Install the plugin

Add the ReApp GitHub repository as a plugin marketplace, install ReApp, then start a new task so the skill and MCP tools load.

ChatGPT setup

  1. Open ChatGPT settings and turn on Developer Mode.
  2. Open Plugins and choose to create a new MCP-backed app.
  3. Enter https://ai.reappofficial.com/mcp as the production MCP URL.
  4. Save it, begin a new conversation, and ask: “Give me a 60-second ReApp reset.”

The service does not require a ReApp account or separate login.

Codex setup

  1. Run the two commands shown above from a readable terminal directory.
  2. In Codex CLI, open /plugins, or open Plugins in the ChatGPT desktop app, and confirm ReApp is installed and enabled.
  3. Review the bundled session-start hook before trusting it. The hook only wakes an already-installed ReApp Mac app; it does not inspect task content.
  4. Start a new Codex task and ask: “Give me a 60-second reset before I continue this task.”

What each surface can do

The native Mac app is the only surface that can schedule automatic, screen-covering pauses. ChatGPT and Codex render an interactive reset inside the host after an explicit request. A public MCP plugin cannot silently take over your Mac screen.

Beta expectation

The MCP service is production-hosted, but the public OpenAI listing is not yet approved. Developer Mode and the GitHub marketplace are intended for testing. Report anything unexpected.
